Hold a discussion on what elements are present in this type of writing. It requires a blended approach to reading and writing.
Use this information to further your lessons and areas of assessment. If the computer does not work on the day of the review game, a game board can be drawn on the chalkboard, or you can create a poster board game board.
Pick reviews that will inspire your students, but also be attainable when it comes to assessment! Be sure that your students are familiar with the tone and voice that a movie summary should include.

Have your students write summaries of books or short stories novellas prior to introducing the movie as a literary device. Legally, you are not allowed to show entire movies in school without a license.
Lesson Extensions Allow students to create a movie poster with their review and post them around school. Bulleted points will help them to better write a summary of the film.
Heavier consideration of learned skills will be placed on final versions after time has been given to experiment with conventions, style, and layouts.
